





No, this is not a photograph.... I have to say that because everyone I show it to naturally assumes it. I painted this in Adobe Photoshop in grayscale for a party invitation celebrating the great black and white movies of a bygone era.
I started by sketching on tissue with marker, scanned in the rough sketch and, using the scan for a template, drew the base art in Adobe Illustrator. I then brought the vector art (paths) into Photoshop to use as friskets for the airbrush tool, with which I painstakingly painted each individual component. Very few filters were used, I only added a little noise to parts of the camera casing and used a lighting effect for the curtain spotlight. The type was added by creating a path in Illustrator to match the filmstrip. The path was then imported into Adobe Dimensions and extruded to match the depth and angle of the filmstrip. The type was then mapped to this shape and rasterized into Photoshop as the final layer.
